He did not experience it himself, but – like so many others – he also grew up with stories from World War II. The young photographer Paolo Ventura, who lives in New York, has now used the fragments of that memory in a remarkable photo series entitled ‘War Souvenir’: dollhouse-sized, meticulous mis-en-scene, startlingly droll, recount everyday life at the ‘home front’.
