This show of black-and-white portraits by Lisette Model and Diane Arbus, the legendary teacher and her star pupil, is one of the summer's best. The pairing may be familiar, but it still has the power to unsettle and excite. Model was the harsher and more judgmental photographer, especially in her pictures of the rich and oblivious, but both women were shrewd, critical observers, with a articular interest in outsiders and eccentrics. The selection here emphasizes their affinities - with, curiosity, and a nervy, confrontational stance that foregrounds their subjects - and their fierce individuality. Through Aug. 16.
