Jeff Bark’s Goldenboy, showing at Hasted Kraeutler Gallery, appear to be photographs captured in Southern California, circa 1980. This is not the case. Bark meticulously recreated a replica of the California backyard in which he made his first photographs, the perks of building such a set are apparent in the masterfully captured light; the time of day is eerily ambiguous.
